Climate action on small farms made practical
Daybreak brings together advanced technology and rural enterprise
Daybreak builds climate technology hubs and a local ecosystem to put farmers on center stage and channel finance and technology directly to climate-smart and nature-positive transformations on large clusters of farms. Our mission is to launch a climate technology hub in every sub-district in India before 2030. Each hub has the potential to deliver climate action on more than 500 farms.
Daybreak hubs promote agroecology on small farms to grow more nutritious foods, and to reduce loss and waste to preserve value, thereby improving the financial capacity of small farms to reinvest in building resilience, restoring ecosystems, and creating nutrition security.
Implement regenerative agriculture practices to increase soil organic matter, improve water efficiency, reduce pollution, increase biodiversity, and restore ecosystem integrity to grow healthier and more nutritious foods.
Introduce the production of more nutritious foods to diversify crops and deliver affordable nutrition security while boosting farm incomes from higher value products.
Protect the input investment and climate footprint of nutritious foods by reducing pre- and post-harvest losses, preserving food quality, and recycling nutrients from organic by-products to increase farm revenues and profits.
Improve farm finances and risk transfer mechanisms, and strengthen farms in the value chain, to support reinvestment in agroecological practices, nutritional security, and climate resilience.
Hubs implement advanced technologies to solve for climate action, commercial success, and community development.
A climate-positive food system is built upon thriving farms, and climate impact on smallholdings is intertwined with commercial success and community development. Daybreak hubs deliver technologies and services that combine climate, commercial, and community outcomes. Hub success is driven by a systematic process.
Site selection and collaboration with farmer groups to localize strategy and digitize farms. Facility construction, installation and validation of technology assets, and linkages with market partners. Delivery to the hub operations team.
Hub staffing and ramping up production and services activities through the first year to reach steady-state operations and deliver the full range of climate adaptation solutions to local farms.
Recruiting and supporting a talented local entrepreneur to acquire, manage, and expand hub operations and work in partnership with their farm community.
